MULTIPLE MANUAL ASSOCIATIONS
On this screen you can create, modify and delete translation sets by associating or disassociating items. Sets created, modified or deleted will be automatically synchronized with Joomla associations for all items that support associations (Articles, Categories, Contacts, Menu Items and News Feeds).
This functionality will not normally be used when creating or modifying translations since modifications to sets of translations are made automatically when one or more elements of the set are created or modified.
However, it is useful when elements that are translations from other elements already exist before the installation of KMFasTrans. KMFasTrans will create the translation sets from the Joomla associations found during installation, but it cannot create them for the elements for which Joomla associations are not supported. To create these is what this functionality is useful for.
SCREENSHOT
SELECTING THE SOURCE LANGUAGE AND THE ELEMENT TYPE
The first thing to do to create or update a set of translations is to select the Source Language and the Element Type. This is done in the left vertical menu.
When you select a new language or a new type of element, all input boxes will be cleared showing the text 'Select element'. The drop-down -Select XXX- where XXX is dependent on the element type selected will be updated according to the element type selected and will show the following:
-Select Category- for Articles, Banners, Contacts, News Feeds and Web links.
-Select Extension- for Categories
-Select Context- for Fields and Fields Groups
-Select Menu- for Menu Items
-Select Type- for modules.
For menus and Tags this drop-down is not shown.
SELECTING THE SOURCE ITEM
The next thing to do is to select the Source Item. Clicking on 'Select Source Item' will show a modal window with a list of items of the selected element type filtered by the value selected in the drop-down. To choose the desired one, just click on its title in the modal window.
If the selected item belongs to a set of translations, in 'Translations Set #' the set number will be shown as shown in the screenshot. In the lower list all the elements belonging to the set will be shown selected. It is possible to click on the number of the translation set to get the detail of the set.
If the selected item does not belong to any set of translations, no set number will be displayed and all the languages rows in the lower list will show the text 'Select element'.
CLEARING OR SELECTING ITEMS FOR EACH LANGUAGE
In each language of the list it is possible to delete the item or change it to a different one. Pressing 'Clear' will replace the title of the element with the text 'Select element' and the 'Clear' button with the 'Select' button. To select a new one, click on 'Select'.
The 'Clear All' button will clear all language input boxes.
Clicking on the 'Select' button will display the following modal window:
There are two main differences from the modal window obtained when selecting the Source Item:
1. A new drop-down -Select Association- is shown at the top of the modal window, as well as how to use it.
2. As can be seen in the list, the elements (articles in this example) have been filtered by the translation of the category of the source article, since no article belonging to a category other than the translation should be chosen. If there was no known translation of the category of the source article, no article would be shown, indicating the reason.
SELECTING POTENTIAL TRANSLATIONS
The 'Select Potentials' button is an aid to select potential translations of a source element into different languages. Clicking this button will search for each language an element in that language with the same filters selected and not belonging to any set of translations. If only one is found, it will be selected as a potential translation. You should review all potential translations to ensure they are appropriate.
SAVING CHANGES
When you are satisfied with the chosen translations you can press the 'Save' button to save the new set. If no translation has been selected in any language, saving will remove the translation set. If there was no set of translations and at least one translation into one language has been selected, then, when saving, a new translations set will be created.
